Why is the Indian flag called a Tiranga (Tricolor) when it actually has 4 colors?

The blue of the Ashoka chakra is a color too, isnt it?

  1. yeh..yeh i know i am only 3 yrs late to comment but if you still wondering the reason becoz the ashoka chakra is only a symbol of the 24 truths set by king ashoka. this is why the congress has a hand drawn on the tricolor...or else they would have been sacked for dishonouring the national flag.
